Motic compound or upright microscopes
A compound microscope comprises an eyepiece(s) and a range of objective lenses that view the mounted specimen. The working distance is short, images are two-dimensional. These microscopes offer a wide field of view. Motic compound optical microscopes are available as finite and infinity corrected optical systems. The latter is the present topical optical system within the routine laboratory and life science market place. Motic compound microscopes are available with full contrast, colour and flat field optical correction. Motic provides optical combinations to suit the needs of university, routine laboratories and specific applications. Typical applications are anatomy, histology, cytology and the bio-sciences. Typical optical illumination techniques that Motic compound and inverted microscopes offer are transmitted light, brightfield, darkfield, polarization and phase contrast. These are illumination and contrast techniques that aid the viewing of stained or non-stained specimens.
